About TVT

The Vintage Thread (TVT) began as a dream rooted in childhood creativity, born out of cutting up old clothes and creating makeshift fashion shows.

What started as a passion for thrifting evolved into an online boutique and eventually a brick-and-mortar store in downtown Macon.

Over time, we’ve found our voice, offering a curated mix of vintage clothing, modern trends, and a unique charm bar where customers can design their own accessories.

Our mission is to provide stylish, size-inclusive, and sustainable fashion that’s as unique as the baddies who wear it.

We pride ourselves on sourcing 90% of our vintage pieces in-house, ensuring our customers always find something special that reflects their individuality. At TVT, every piece tells a story, and we’re excited to help you tell yours.

About Our Founder

Hey! I’m Abigail Johnson, founder and CEO of The Vintage Thread. To say I’ve always been into fashion would be an understatement. My style journey started as a weird little kid who loved cutting up my mom’s clothes and gluing them onto other pieces to create new “designs.” My childhood best friend and I would throw these epic fashion shows for our moms—looking back, it was hilarious, but I guess you could say that’s where it all began.

By the time I got my driver’s license, I was hitting every thrift store I could find, and my friends were constantly dragging me along because they swore I had some kind of superpower for finding the best stuff. Honestly, that’s when I realized, damn, I’m kind of good at this—even if I didn’t have my own style fully figured out yet.

Fast Forward...

Fast forward to college, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I thought I was going to transfer and study interior design, but then COVID hit, and I stayed in Americus, GA. I ended up working at a local boutique and, to be real, I hated it at first. It wasn’t the fast-paced restaurant life I was used to, but that job ended up giving me lifelong friends, business knowledge, and a new passion for retail. It also made me realize I wanted to create something that was mine.

After graduating, I launched The Vintage Thread as an online boutique, but it never felt quite right. Then, my mom found this old, beat-up bike shop in Macon, and she threw out the crazy idea that we should open a store together. I was like, bet, let’s do it! And that’s how TVT became what it is today—a place where we could combine our love for thrifting, fashion, and creating something unique.

This store is my heart and soul. It’s a reflection of everything I’ve learned and everything I love—fashion that’s fun, authentic, and totally me. And I can’t wait to share it with you!
